Cherry Blossom Festival Awarded $250,000 Grant from Peyton Anderson Foundation
The Trustees of the Peyton Anderson Foundation authorized a grant of $250,000 to Macon Georgia’s International Cherry Blossom Festival for the purpose of providing resources to evaluate the current status of the Festival’s programs and operations and assess how both programs and operations can be made more effective for the years ahead. It is meant to provide the Festival an opportunity to re-imagine the future of the organization and act boldly to implement programs that can be a creative resource for Macon’s future.
“I am thrilled to accept this generous gift which will allow the Festival to expand our marketing, tourism efforts, and programming as a whole” says Karen Lambert, President and CEO of Macon’s Cherry Blossom Festival. Lambert states “The Cherry Blossom Festival has a strong 28 year history that we are extremely proud of, and due to support in the forms of grants such as this one from the Peyton Anderson Foundation, the Festival can continue the momentum set from last year’s event to heights some might have previously thought unattainable”.
The 2010 Cherry Blossom Festival is scheduled for March 19th through the 28th. A full schedule of events will be announced by January 15, 2010. Please visit www.cherryblossom.com to purchase event tickets or for more information.
