BRUSTER’S OF GRIFFIN SAVES FREE ICE CREAM IN THIRD STREET PARK DURING THE CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL

Macon, GA---Free ice cream in Third Street Park during the Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual tradition that festival visitors have come to love and expect each year.  That tradition was in danger of disappearing for 2012.  Dairyland and Pet Dairies have presented the free ice cream for over 20 years during the Cherry Blossom Festival.  Mayfield recently bought the company who holds a district office in Marietta.  Although there are local representatives at Macon office, the final decision rested with representatives in Marietta.  After attempting for months to get approval for the ice cream donation from Mayfield, festival officials realized the sponsorship was in danger.

“We knew this was one tradition that the public would miss incredibly so we let our board members know the festival needed their help to find another company willing to donate the product for the sponsorship” Festival President and CEO Karen Jordan Lambert recounts.  Lambert says, “After some contacts were made by our board Bruster’s of Griffin stepped up to the plate.  Representatives from the restaurant met with us and gladly offered their services so the Festival can continue to scoop up the free treats”.

Bruster’s representative Andy Pope says the company is looking forward to their first Cherry Blossom Festival. “Bruster’s of Griffin is excited to be a part of Macon Georgia's International Cherry Blossom Festival, celebrating its 30^th year! When we were asked to join the festivities we knew just what we could bring to the party. We have our special hand-made ice cream flavors like the smooth and creamy Cherry Vanilla, that we will be offering free of charge to the community each day of the festival’s Third Street Park Festivities. We love giving back to the communities that surround us.  This year to ensure that we could meet the need and deliver a great experience for each festival attendee we are partnering with two other community oriented companies to sponsor this event. Those companies are Angus Best, LLC and Little Nicci’s Pizza & Wings.”

Free ice cream and Coca-Cola will be available Monday through Friday March 19-23^rd from 11:30 until 1:30 each day.
